12 Signs of Whiplash Injury

By November 29, 2016March 21st, 2022No Comments

In our vehicles, seatbelts hold our bodies back in the event of a crash. But our heads and necks are unrestrained. As a result, whiplash is a common accident injury. It’s also very common for whiplash to have hidden symptoms – that is to say, symptoms that do not appear until later.

Twelve of the most common signs of whiplash are:

  1. Neck pain
  2. Neck stiffness
  3. Headache
  4. Decreased range of motion in your neck
  5. Exacerbation of pain when you turn your neck
  6. Fatigue
  7. Dizzy spells
  8. Back, shoulder and/or upper arm pain
  9. Numbness or tingling in your arms
  10. Blurred vision
  11. Irritability
  12. Ringing in your ears (also known as tinnitus)

These last symptoms tend to be less common. Neck pain, stiffness and headache are quite common in whiplash victims. If you experience any of these symptoms or others after a car crash, you should visit your doctor as soon as possible so that you can get an appropriate diagnosis and treatment of any injury you may have suffered.
