Motorcycle Accidents on the Rise in B.C.

By August 23, 2017March 21st, 2022No Comments

Over the last few years, there has been an increase in motorcycle accidents in British Columbia. Motorcycle accidents can be severe, as riders are significantly less protected than those in automobiles and can sustain traumatic injury when involved in a collision with another vehicle.

At Stephens & Holman, we understand that riding is a freeing experience, especially on the roadways around our beautiful province. We also believe in the importance of practicing safe riding so that you can avoid potential life-threatening injury caused by an accident.

According to ICBC, statistics for motorcycle accidents in B.C. include:

  • More than 1,600 motorcyclists were injured in 2016
  • There were 2,600 separate motorcycle crashes in 2016, up 1,500 from 2015
  • Motorcycle accidents increase in the spring and summer months
  • An average of six motorcyclists are injured each day in July and August in B.C.

Not only have the number of motorcycle crashes increased but the number of injuries from those accidents has risen as well. With these alarming numbers, it’s important to practice safe riding techniques to minimize your risk of an accident and protect yourself from potential injury.
